End of an era for VPL Volunteer Police Veteran Glen Riddle

Published: Thursday 21 March 2024

What a fantastic evening it was in Warrnambool Tuesday evening celebrating the retirement, as a VPL Volunteer, of Police Veteran Glen Riddle who with the support of wife Pauline, has been supporting local police legatees and their families since 1977 in the states southwest well prior to the inception of VPL in 1980.

When serving as a police officer, Glen, up until his retirement in 2006, and beyond, selfishly undertook VPL duties as one of our first Volunteers around Warrnambool, including Colac, Terang, Mortlake, Camperdown and Port Fairy. An annual highlight of the support he provided throughout the 45 plus years as a Volunteer to local police legatees, was the annual trip to the VPL Christmas Party in Melbourne.

It was great to have VPL Board Member Mick Grainger APM at last night’s dinner to thank Glen on behalf of the Board for his years of amazing service and to present him with a gift and a Certificate of Appreciation for his years of Volunteer service. A highlight of the night were the words spoken by police legatees Christine Marley and Pamela Wade who thanked Glen for his outstanding compassion and support provided to them, their families and other police legatees in the southwest.

Congratulations on your retirement Glen and a huge ‘THANK YOU’ for your outstanding efforts over many years. Enjoy retired life with Pauline and the family.
